Although summer isn’t over yet and you might think it is too early to be thinking about skiing, if you are a serious skier and are dreaming about skiing in Europe this winter, you will need to plan ahead!

Let’s face it, Europe has some of the most star-studded ski resorts anywhere. Conde Nast polled its readers to determine the top ski resorts in Europe and I’m featuring the top 5 today.

Three of the top five are in the Swiss Alps, starting with St. Moritz --- bathed in sunshine year-round – or Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn with runs at 10,000 feet---and glamorous Verbier, with novice to expert runs and Nordic trails.

Italy’s Dolomites are home to Cortina d’Ampezzo, 2 hours from Venice with its more relaxed vibe-- or Val d’Isere in France where it is party central-- but offers some of the best skiing in Europe.
